Brief: to design and fabricate a combination of an art piece and board room table for the advertising firm Fourth Floor Advertising Agency in Piccadilly, London.
When not in use the table top is hung on the wall and the base stands in the centre of the room as an art piece. When required for board meetings the top is taken down from the wall and set on top of the base to be used as a board room table.

The table top hangs on the wall with a barcode motif which is actually the firms telephone number. The metal base, although giving the impression of being a massive object was actually hollow and quite light to move.

A wooden model of the sculpture wasfirst made so the client could fully visualize the completed piece.

The object and all its component pieces were modeled in Form Z 3D modeling software and each piece being dxf exported to the CDC laser cutting machine.

The project encountered some technical difficulties associated with heat distribution and twisting.

The skeleton was tacked together first then enclosed in a frame to control the twisting caused by the heat transfer. Then the first outer skin was tacked on followed by the second inner skin. Both skins then had their edges finish welded.

The welds were ground off then the whole sculpture sand blasted and buffed.

It was then powder coated with clear laquer.
