152 Fonthill Road, London.
The building(s) consisted of commercial sales outlets on the ground floors, fashion fabrication premises on the first floor with residential on the top floor.
An illegal and undocumented rear extension was previously done simultaneously on the twin buildings of 152 and 154 Fonthill Road.
After the local authorities were alerted to this fact and the owners issued with a rectification notice, we were brought in to bring all the engineering up to the required specification (including underpinning and structural member replacement), ensure that all building and planning codes were adherd to and renovate both premises.
What made this project more than interesting was that 90% of the work took place from the rear side of th buildings while the premises were occupied.

After cutting a hole in the rear brickwall, the spline wall between the two buildings was underpinned from inside.
After the underpinning was completed the floors in the upper areas were reinforced with the correct sized joists and re-sheeted, then a double mansard roof and new windows were installed.
